Being able to independently play, interact with, and choose music is one of the oft-overlooked joys in life. Music has a profound impact on our emotional and mental well-being. For people with physical disabilities who utilize switches as access methods, the simple act of playing and pausing a song can require a set of complex and expensive assistive technology devices. This necessity often creates barriers that prevent individuals from enjoying music in the same effortless manner as those without physical limitations.
In these instructions, we provide detailed guidance on how to switch-adapt a commercially available Bluetooth media controller. This device, once adapted, can be connected to any computer or mobile device, allowing users to take control of their musical experience with greater ease. The low cost adaptation, costs less than $20 in parts and focuses specifically on the play/pause and track navigation buttons. These are essential for managing music playback.
This project involves some soldering but beginner-friendly. The step-by-step instructions will walk you through the process to successfully complete the adaptation.
