Our commitment
Zero Day Camp wants everyone who is curious about coding to be able to use this website, including people with disabilities. We are working to make the site usable with a keyboard, screen readers, zoom and other assistive technology. This statement applies to https://zeroday.camp.
Conformance status
This website is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the site do not yet fully meet the standard. We list the known gaps below, along with what we are doing about them.
What we have done
- Colour contrast: text and buttons meet WCAG AA contrast, and most meet AAA. Body text is 17:1 on the page background, and links are 7.4:1.
- Colour is not the only signal: links are underlined, and form errors are shown in text as well as colour.
- Visible focus: a clear 3px outline shows which element has keyboard focus, on every background.
- Forms: fields have visible labels and borders with at least 3:1 contrast.
- High contrast mode: buttons keep a visible border when high contrast or forced colours are switched on.
- Text resizing: pages can be zoomed to 200% without losing content.
- Slide deck accessibility: learning and teaching materials generated aim to include alt text for images and meet color contrast and readability standards.
Known limitations
We know about the following issues and are working to fix them. If one of them stops you from doing something, please contact us and we will help.
| Area | Issue | What we are doing |
|---|---|---|
| Online courses | In our learning platform, the course curriculum sections and the course tabs cannot be opened with a keyboard, and screen readers are not told whether they are open or closed, the side bar lesson navigation cannot be reverse traversed using a keyboard, and the heading structure in the main course page is incorrect. | We have reported this to the plugin developer and are waiting for a fix. Until then, contact us and we will send you the course content directly |
| Third-party content | Some embedded content, such as videos, maps or booking forms provided by other companies, may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA | We choose accessible providers where we can and offer alternatives on request |
| Older documents | Some older PDFs may not be fully accessible. | Accessible versions are available on request |
Compatibility
The site is designed to work with recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile. It is built with HTML and CSS and relies on JavaScript for some features.
